Miss Green, our Preschool Manager, welcomes all new children and aims to give them the very best start in life.
Fladbury Preschool accepts children from 3 years old, and we are open during school term time, following the school calendar.
Daily Routines and Activities
At Fladbury Preschool, we follow a simple routine to offer your child consistency. However, this routine is flexible to change with your children as we progress through the academic year. If your child struggles to settle, we encourage a series of shorter introductory sessions.
We offer a variety of child-led activities which are based around Development Matters. We make use of the school playground, outside play equipment, quiet garden, forest school and other school facilities. Any adult-led-focused activities will be planned around your child’s interests and needs and include phonics, P.E., cookery, music, forest school and lots more!
Working Together
Here at Fladbury Preschool we are lucky that we are already part of Fladbury Primary School. Our classroom is known as Wye Class, and we are joined by our Reception Children in the same room. We often join Reception Class children for activities on a regular basis, including day trips, and we also visit whole school worship and church services throughout the year.
We also run sessions in the summer term as a ‘Reception Taster’, which introduces children to their classmates and teachers and supports their transition into 'big school'. These are introduced through play-based activities which will help to make the transition into school much easier.
Session Information
Our opening times follow the hours of Fladbury Primary School, from 8:55am to 3:25pm, Monday to Friday. We offer flexibility within these hours, with a variety of session patterns available to meet the needs of families accessing either 15 or 30 hours of funded childcare per week.
There are two separate Government funding childcare schemes available to our families:
- 30 hours childcare for eligible working families in England - 1140 funded hours per year, which is usually taken as 30 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year. These hours are available when your child starts with us.
- 15 hours childcare for all families in England – all families receive 570 funded hours per year, which is usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year. These hours are available from 1st January, 1st April or 1st September following your child's 3rd birthday.

15-hour Sessions
Option 1a: 5 mornings (3 hours per day) – 9:25am to 12:25pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This option includes lunchtime, apart from on a Wednesday, when the children are at Forest School.
Option 1b: 5 afternoons (3 hours per day) – 12:25pm to 3:25pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This option will only include lunchtime on a Wednesday, when the children are at Forest School.
Option 2a: 2.5 days (2 days at 6 hours per day / 1 day at 3 hours per day) – 9:25am to 3:25pm Monday and Tuesday and 9:25am to 12:25pm on a Wednesday.
Option 2b: 2.5 days (1 day at 3 hours per day / 2 days at 6 hours per day) – 12:25pm to 3:25pm Wednesday and 9:25am to 3:25pm Thursday and Friday.
30-hour Sessions
Option 3a: 5 days (6 hours per day) – 9:25am to 3:25pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
If you are eligible for 30 hours of funded childcare but would prefer your child to attend for fewer hours, you can choose from any of the 15-hour session patterns outlined above.
Early Bird Session – We also offer an Early Bird Session, providing care from 8:55am to 9:25am, Monday to Friday at an additional cost of £3 per session.
Forest School Top Up Hours – Our Forest School Session takes place every Wednesday where we spend a full day outside. If your child’s chosen session does not include a full day on a Wednesday and they would like to join us for the entire session, then we offer a Forest School Top Up at an additional cost of £18 per week (£6 per hour). If you have any unallocated funded hours, then we can allocate them for these additional three hours.
Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is additional funding we receive from the Government to help raise the attainment of our most disadvantaged children. For more information, please visit the Worcestershire County Council Pupil Premium page.
Wraparound care is also available from 7:45am until 5:30pm at an additional cost. Further information is available on request.
