Welcome back Elm! We have had a lovely first week and it is great to see so many happy faces in the classroom.

Autumn Term- 'Marvellous Me'

Our topic for the Autumn term is all about ‘Marvellous Me,’ where we will be exploring more about ourselves and the areas around us. Our priority over the first half term is around wellbeing and health and therefore appropriate time will be given to PSHE-based activities.

Our English will be centred on books that support this, starting with 'The Colour Monster,' by Anna Llenas.

In Maths in Reception, we will be looking at matching, sorting and comparing. In Maths in Year 1 we will be looking at Place value.

In RE, we will be focusing on our school value 'Friendship' and what the Bible says about this value and how friendship can help us with our own wellbeing.

PE will take place on Friday Mornings. This will take place outdoors so please wear a warm, suitable PE kit to school on that day (tracksuit, t-shirt, jumper and trainers).

All of Elm class will have an outdoor learning session on a TUESDAY afternoon, with Elm Year 1s linking up with Ash Year 1s in the forest and Elm Reception experiencing outdoor learning with Maple in our outdoor classroom. Reception will experience outdoor learning in the forest on a THURSDAY morning. They must come into school wearing suitable clothing on this day. Remember to send your child with a pair of wellies and a set of waterproofs to keep in school.

Reading books need to be taken home and brought back into school on a Monday to be changed.

Communication can take place through Tapestry or by making an appointment through the Office.

Many thanks!

Mr Taylor
