Elm
Welcome to Elm Class! Spring 2 Term This half term, we are pondering the question 'I wonder how that moves?' We will learn in a topic based way, following the interests of the children but linking our learning to all areas of both the Early Years and Year 1 National Curriculum. We will consider the names of different parts of our bodies and learn to label them. We will think about different vehicles and machines, considering what materials they are made from and why. We will be thinking about designing and creating our own vehicles. We will look at vehicles from the past as well as prominent historical figures linked to transport. Throughout all of this, we will continue to learn new sounds in phonics and continue to apply our phonic knowledge to our reading and writing in real-life, interesting ways. In Maths, we are building on the foundations of what we already know about numbers to solve problems involving addition, subtraction, doubling, halving and dividing in practical and exciting ways. In RE, we are focusing on the question 'Who is a Christian and what do they believe?' as well as learning about Lent and Easter. PE will take place on Friday afternoons. This half term, we are continuuing to work on gymnastics skills in the school hall. All of Elm class will have an outdoor learning session on a Wednesday and will need suitable waterproofs and wellington boots to be kept in school. Reading books and book bags should be brought to school every day as we listen to the children read throughout the week and books will be changed within phonics group at different point throughout the week. Class Dojo Many thanks! Miss Chance, Mrs Leaver, Mrs Robinson & Miss James |
